Crawler Crane Operator

FAS are the national training and employment authority in Ireland. FÁS has responsibility for the overall management and administration of the following regulated schemes and programmes for the construction industry in Ireland

  • Construction Skills Certificate Scheme (CSCS)
  • Safe Pass Programme

FÁS has developed Training and Assessment Programmes for prescribed categories of activities that come within the scope of the CSCS. Training and assessment of eligible candidates is delivered by approved training providers.

Candidates who successfully complete CSCS programmes are awarded FETAC Certification and are eligible to apply to FÁS for the appropriate registration card.

FÁS has also developed the Safe Pass programme. This is a general safety awareness programme. There is no qualification for Safe Pass and successful candidates apply directly to FÁS for a Safe Pass registration card.

Procedures for Crawler Crane operators providing construction services in Ireland

Crawler Crane Operators looking to provide construction services in Ireland are required to obtain a certificate of competence, a Crawler Crane operator registration card or equivalent and a Safe Pass registration card or equivalent.

FAS are also the competent authority responsible for the recognition of professional qualifications from other EU Member States for the Construction Skills Certification Scheme and Safe Pass in Ireland.
